Adopt Me Rarity Tiers Explained — Common to Legendary

Updated May 2026 · Essential knowledge for every Adopt Me trader

🏷️ Rarity is the foundation of Adopt Me's economy. Understanding the five rarity tiers — and what they mean for hatch rates and trading — is the first thing every player should learn.

The Five Rarity Tiers

Every pet in Adopt Me belongs to one of five rarity tiers. When you hatch an egg, the game rolls against a probability table to determine which tier — and then which specific pet — you receive. Higher rarity = lower probability = harder to get = more desirable in trades.

Common Relative hatch rate: Highest

The most frequently hatched pets. Commons are easy to obtain and are the starting point for building toward Neon fusions. A Mega Neon Common still requires 16 individual Common pets — all Full Grown — which takes considerable time even for the lowest rarity.

Uncommon Relative hatch rate: High

One tier above Common. Uncommon pets hatch reasonably often and form the backbone of early-game trading. A well-fused Neon or Mega Neon Uncommon is a solid trade item for newer players building their collections.

Rare Relative hatch rate: Moderate

Rares hatch less frequently than Commons and Uncommons. Popular Rare pets with distinctive designs see active demand in the trading community. FR and NFR variants of Rares are especially sought after.

Ultra-Rare Relative hatch rate: Low

Ultra-Rares hatch infrequently and are the entry point for serious trading. The community actively trades Ultra-Rares as stepping stones toward Legendary pets. FR and NFR forms carry noticeably more prestige than Normal.

Legendary Relative hatch rate: Very Low

Legendary is the highest standard rarity tier. Legendary pets have the lowest hatch probability from any egg that contains them and are distinguished by a golden name colour in the inventory. They are the most sought-after obtainable pets and the primary focus of advanced trading.

Limited Legendary Pets

A special sub-category worth knowing about is Limited Legendary. These are pets that were originally released as Legendary during a specific seasonal event — such as a Halloween egg or a Christmas egg — but are no longer available to hatch. Once the event ended, those eggs disappeared.

Because Limited Legendaries cannot be obtained from any current egg, they only circulate through player-to-player trading. This scarcity — combined with high demand — makes them among the most desirable pets in the entire game. The Shadow Dragon and Bat Dragon are well-known examples.

How Rarity Affects Trading

In Adopt Me trading, rarity is the primary driver of a pet's desirability. A few general principles:

  • Higher rarity pets are generally more desirable in any equivalent variant (Normal, FR, NFR, etc.)
  • Rarity and variant both play a role — a higher-rarity pet in Normal form and a lower-rarity pet in a high-tier variant (like MFR) can each be sought after for different reasons
  • Limited Legendary pets are treated differently from standard Legendaries because they can no longer be hatched — making them even more sought-after in the trading community
  • Two pets of the same rarity can still differ significantly in desirability based on their design, history, and community demand

Reading the Egg Probability Screen

When you look at an egg in Adopt Me, you can see its hatch probabilities listed for each rarity tier — the percentages sum to 100%. Every egg has its own unique probability table, so the exact numbers differ between eggs. Always check the probability screen on the specific egg you want to hatch before spending Bucks — different eggs have very different pools and rates.
