⚠️ Adopt Me pets can be worth real money. Rare and limited pets represent genuine value — which is exactly why scammers target the game. Following these safety practices protects both your pets and your account.
Adopt Me's in-game trade screen is the only legitimate way to exchange pets with another player inside the game. Both players see exactly what is being offered and both must confirm. Never agree to any exchange that happens outside this window.
If someone asks you to 'send your pet first to prove you trust them', decline immediately. This is one of the oldest and most common Adopt Me scams. Legitimate trades are simultaneous — no one sends anything first.
No legitimate trade requires your Roblox username or password. If anyone — in game, in Discord, or on any website — asks for your login credentials, they are attempting to steal your account. Enable 2-factor authentication on your Roblox account for extra protection.
Scammers sometimes recruit fake 'middlemen' who claim to hold items neutrally during a trade. Almost without exception, these middlemen are accomplices who will disappear with both pets. Never use a third-party middleman — use trusted platforms like Pet Bakery instead.
Before any trade, check the approximate value of every pet involved. Pet Bakery shows recent completed sale prices so you can see what pets are actually trading for. Never rely solely on what the other player tells you a pet is worth.
When looking for trade partners or finding fair values, stick to well-established community platforms with reputation systems and safety measures. Pet Bakery's marketplace uses escrow and verified sellers. Community Discord servers with moderation are safer than random strangers in-game.
Before accepting a trade, take a screenshot of the trade screen showing exactly what both sides are offering. If a dispute arises, you'll have evidence of what was agreed. This habit takes seconds and can save you significant frustration.
Scammers often create artificial urgency ('this offer expires in 10 seconds!'). A real trader will always give you time to think. If someone is pressuring you to accept quickly, that is a red flag. Step back, verify values, and only accept when you're confident.
If a scam does occur in-game, here's what you can do:
Note: In-game trades that you accepted voluntarily are very difficult to reverse, even in scam cases. Prevention is always the best approach.
